But on a completely unrelated topic I wanted to quickly discuss how freakin' awesome females look when they rock a Power Tux; I think wearing a suit can make a woman feel so powerful and not simply because they're wearing something which is traditionally seen as a male garment and with that comes the archaic connotations of gendered strength and assertiveness but because when it is done correctly it can be a blend of that androgynous femininity which is so attractive in a woman.
I really do think less is more sometimes ladies and there's nothing more off-putting than a woman who is putting all the goods on display if you know what I mean. The female tuxedo takes what has traditionally been used by men to show prosperity and professionalism, adapted it, taken ownership of it and made it sexy. This BBC article summarises my thoughts in a much more eloquent way and gives a bit of background to the emergence of the female suit from Marlene Dietrich wearing one in the 1930 movie 'Morocco' to YSL introducing a female tuxedo in his 1966 show.
It's not about looking masculine at all, you don't have to end up looking like Miss Trunchbull in an unflattering power suit with this look- the key is to keep the angles sharp and although not having to be fitted, the jacket shouldn't be too big.
