One of those perfect weekends

For the vast majority of folk like myself who work that Mon-Fri grind, the 48 hours that we get given to us at the weekends in which we can do absolutely anything that we like with our time are so precious.

There's nothing worse than feeling like you wasted that time or on the other hand that you were too busy to even enjoy it and it's sometimes possible to go back to work on Monday morning feeling more tired than you did on Friday afternoon. A couple of weekends ago I had such a wonderful two days that completely set me up for the week and I was so thankful that I made the effort to do something fun with my time.

My Saturday was wonderfully hectic with a gym session in the morning, a haircut for Sam and then an hour drive up the road to visit Norwich city centre for the afternoon. Having lived in Ipswich in Suffolk for most of my life, my sister and I were always taken to Norwich as a treat as it's the nearest big city to us and therefore I will always have a fondness for the place.
Sam had never been to Norwich so I was excited to show her the sights of the place but with my memory and sense of direction we often found ourselves walking in circles passing the same market stall over and over again.

I feel that Norwich is a really nice city that's little enough to be able to wander around freely without having to jump on a train/ tram/ bus to see it all. We had a few vouchers to spend so we went shopping in the main streets visiting Topshop, Primark, Office and Lush- where I bought a purple shampoo called Daddy- O for blonde hair which smells absolutely divine, just like parma violets, I have to literally stop myself from sneaking a taste when I use it in the shower.

Much like in Brighton there is also an 'alternative' area in the city which runs adjacent to the main street called The Lanes which similar to Brighton is home to the city's independent clothing stores and coffee shops although it is much smaller in scale.
Check out this window display at Biddy's Tea Room!

Of course the area can be described as slightly hipster but it's hard to escape that label when the word 'independent' is put ahead of the premises.

We strolled around The Lanes for a while and took in all that was on offer but by this point we were ravenous, I mean almost feral with hunger, and so I dragged Sam to Yo Sushi promising her that she would like it.

Although the hot food which we ordered was delicious, I was a little disappointed with the smaller plates that were on offer on the belt with the same sad looking tuna rolls and stale desserts being the only thing on offer. We did visit at an odd time, being 4:30pm, so the restaurant obviously wouldn't have their main selection out but it was still a bit of a let down.

The sushi was followed by some sweet pretzels and a coffee at a stall down the road and then back home.

The Sunday was gloriously sunny and what does my family like to do when its sunny? Get the boots on and go for a walk of course! I genuinely believe that a walk is the best form of therapy out there, I've never finished a walk feeling angry or stressed, and so Sam, mum, dad, Jet (the dog) and I jumped in the car and headed to Waldringfield village. It's an absolutely gorgeous little place right on the river and is the perfect location for a Sunday afternoon stroll.

The pint of cider at the pub at the end of the walk was the icing on the cake and mum's roast that afternoon was the cherry on top of what was a really great weekend.
